چکیده
The German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) draws in its report " World in Transition – Towards Sustainable Energy Systems " [1] the conclusion that " it is essential to turn energy systems towards sustainability worldwide – both in order to protect the natural life-support systems on which humanity depends, and to eradicate energy poverty in developing countries. Nothing less than a fundamental transformation of energy systems will be needed to return development trajectories to sustainable corridors. " In one of the scenarios developed by the German Advisory Council on Global Change (see Fig. 1.1) a part and parcel is the " substantial development and expansion of new renewable energy sources, notably solar. " Fig. 1.1: Transforming the global energy mix: The exemplary path until 2050/2100 (from [1]). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety investigated in its report " Renewable energies – Innovations for the future " [2] the technical potential for use of the available energy sources, namely the continental solar 2 1 Introduction

Study the Effect of Silicon Nanowire Length on Characteristics of Silicon Nanowire Based Solar Cells by Using Impedance Spectroscopy
Silicon nanowire (SiNW) arrays were produced by electroless method on polycrystalline Si substrate, in HF/ AgNO3 solution. Although the monocrystalline silicon wafer is commonly utilized as a perfect substrate, polycrystalline silicon as a low cost substrate was used in this work for photovoltaic applications. In order to study the influence of etching time (which affects the SiNWs length) on d...
متن کاملDesign of Silicon Nano-Bars Anti-Reflection Coating to Enhance Thin Film Solar Cells Efficiency
In this paper a novel anti-reflection (AR) coating based on silicon nano-bars is designed and its impact on the performance of crystalline silicon (c-Si) thin-film solar cells is extensively studied. Silicon nano-bars with optimized size and period are embedded on top of the active layer, under a 100nm Si3N4 layer. As a result of the proposed layer stack, an inhomogeneous intermediate layer wit...
متن کاملInvestigation of defect formation and electronic transport in microcrystalline silicon deposited by hot wire CVD
We have investigated doped and undoped layers of microcrystalline silicon prepared by hot wire chemical vapour deposition optically, electrically and by means of transmission electron microscopy. Beside needlelike crystals grown perpendicular to the substrate’s surface all of the layers contained a noncrystalline phase with a volume fraction between 4% and 25%. A high oxygen content of several ...
متن کاملAtomic structure of interface states in silicon heterojunction solar cells.
Combining orientation dependent electrically detected magnetic resonance and g tensor calculations based on density functional theory we assign microscopic structures to paramagnetic states involved in spin-dependent recombination at the interface of hydrogenated amorphous silicon crystalline silicon (a-Si:H/c-Si) heterojunction solar cells. We find that (i) the interface exhibits microscopic r...
متن کاملOptimization of Chemical Texturing of Silicon Wafers Using Different Concentrations of Sodium Hydroxide in Etching Solution
In this paper, the morphology of chemically etched silicon with various concentration is reported. The surface of Silicon (100) has pyramidal structures which can be used for anti-reflection applications in solar cells. Pyramidal structures can capture incident sun light therefore can enhance the efficiency of silicon solar cells. The structure of silicon pyramid was studied using scanni...
